Stanley Fitzgerald Smith

Stanley Fitzgerald Smith was born on October 29, 1952, in Cotton Plant, Arkansas to McKinzey Smith Sr. and Bernice Hood.

Stanley accepted Christ at an early age under the leadership of Reverend Felix Brown, at the Trice Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in Cotton Plant, Arkansas. He later began to fellowship at Mt. Pisgah Missionary Baptist Church, and became a member under the pastorship of Reverend Gus Dixon.

Stanley received his education through the Cotton Plant School System.

Stanley served in the United States Marine Corps where he served as a Recoil Ranger until he was Honorably Discharged on the 26th day of March 1973.

Stanley married his first wife Gillis Palmer, and to this union one child, Lakeisa was born. He also had a special friend, Willie Mae Hall, and to this union Jacquelin Lashell Smith was born. He then met the love of his life Patricia Raymond. The couple wed in Holy Matrimony on October 20, 1978. To this union one son, Sterlin Luther Smith was born.

Stanley possessed a rich history of employment. He was employed at the Chrysler Corporation in Detroit, Michigan. He worked as a laborer at a home manufacturing facility where they assembled pre-fabricated homes. He also worked on various farms, Ellis Reeves Farms being the longest. Stanley would go on to spend a total of 46 years in agricultural work.

Stanley, who was also known as the “Scorpio Kid”, lived his life to the fullest. He enjoyed spending time with his family, and the “fellas”. He loved listening to the Blues, and Gospel (especially Lee Williams). He enjoyed puzzles, whether they were photographic or puzzles of cars. He possessed a passion for cars and trucks, especially classics. Over the years Stanley built a vast collection of model cars. He also was skilled at auto repair and detailing. Stanley’s signature was his loud pipes. Everyone could hear him coming and knew to “get out of the way!” Stanley was a proud member of the Masonic Lodge No. 8, A.F & A.M located in McCrory, Arkansas, where he served as the secretary and treasurer. He received his certificate (no. 00068) on the 4th day of June, A.D. 1994.
