Ulysses Nathan Ervin

Ulysses Nathan Ervin passed away on February 17, 2023, at the age of 68. He was born in Forrest City, Arkansas on March 20, 1954 and the lastborn to Ulysses Monroe and Dolly Lorine Ervin. The family home was located in Hunter where Nathan grew up on the family farm, with two older brothers, Thomas and Larry Don. He received early education at the local elementary school and attended high school in the nearby community of Brinkley.

His working career began alongside his family members on Ervin Farms. With a desire to began his own business, Nathan began hauling grain locally. Starting with two trucks, a lot of hard work and dedication, Nathan Ervin Trucking grew to a total of 14 trucks.

In 1986 Nathan married Mary Defoor of McCrory. They shared in the joys of five children in the home, the addition of spouses and eleven grandchildren. Sadly Nathan experienced the loss of Mary on May 22, 2017 after thirty one years of marriage.

Like most young men growing up in the southern delta, Nathan had a love of the outdoors. He liked the sport of deer hunting, and especially enjoyed teaching his skills and techniques to his grandchildren. Nathan was also a people person and enjoyed visiting the local truck stops.

As a man of faith, Nathan accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior. He was baptized on June 12, 2002 and has attended times of worship at the General Assembly Church of the Firstborn for twenty one years.

Nathan was preceded in death by his parents, Ulysses Monroe and Dolly Lorine (Smith) Ervin, wife, Mary Defoor Ervin, brothers, Thomas and Larry Don Ervin, step-son Joey Bailey and stepdaughter, Holly Bailey .

He is survived by a son, Shane Ervin of Hunter, daughters, Jana Briley and Bob of McCrory, Tammy Pfaffenberger and Tate of DeWitt, and eleven grandchildren.
