Jackie Lee Askins

Jackie Askins, of Biscoe, passed away at the age of 86. He was born in Fagus, Missouri, to the family of John and Lucy (Crady) Askins. At some point in time, the family moved to Arkansas, where he received education. Simply known as "Bud", he left school at an early age to work and help out with family needs.

As a young man, Bud was called to duty and served with the United States Army which was engaged in the Korean Conflict. Due to his father’s medical complications, Bud was released with a hardship discharge and returned home once again to help with the care and needs of the family. With good work ethics instilled from a young age, Bud worked for the Jack Prince Farm, as well as construction for the Brown and Root Co. He considered construction his lifetime career, which took him many places throughout the United States. While in Chicago, he was privileged to helped build the Sears Tower.

His travels through Colorado and Wyoming allowed him many opportunities to fulfill his passion for unique hunting and fishing out west. During other times he enjoyed the local hunting, especially squirrel and rabbit hunting. Bud was a part of the Biscoe community for many years and enjoyed friendship and special times with his friends and family.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Clay Askins, Melburn Askins, Troy Askins and sisters; Melba Jewel Askins, Joyce Pennington and Faye Hendy. He is survived by, brothers, William Arnold Askins of Jacksonville, Richard Dale Askins of Hensley; and sisters, Lovell Mooney of Brinkley, and Lola Hickman of Beebe.

Services were on Thursday, October 17, at Bob Neal & Sons Funeral Home Chapel in Brinkley, with burial at Biscoe Cemetery. Arrangements by Bob Neal & Sons Funeral Home.
