Donald Bateman Simpson of Brinkley passed away December 25, 2019 at the age of 89. He was born in Brinkley November 19, 1930 to the late Willard Bateman Simpson and Ester Nelson Simpson.

He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great-grandfather, brother and friend to all that knew him. He grew up in the Allendale Community before moving to Brinkley in the 1970s. He married his grade school sweetheart, Minnie Jean Burrow on July 31, 1950, which is 70 years. He atte3nded Broadmoor Baptist Church in Brinkley until his health made it difficult to attend. But that didn’t stop him from reading and studying his Bible daily.

He farmed for over 30 years, drove a truck, and before retiring he managed the maintenance at two local motels in Brinkley. Donald served in the Army National Guard for 10 years and received his honorable discharge in July 1958. He enjoyed the outdoors and was always busy tinkering on something, but no matter how busy he was with work he always made family his top priority.

He is preceded in death by his two sisters, Carolyn Shumard and Iris Mitchell. Survivors are his wife, Minnie Jean Burrow Simpson; sons, Larry Simpson of Beebe and Travis Simpson (Kim) of Pine Bluff; four grandsons, Britt Simpson (Kristi) of Beebe, Bryan Simpson (Donna) of Palestine, Zach Simpson of Grady and Donald Glean Simpson (Jordan) of Helena; 10 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Joie Simpson (Pat) of Texas, and Gary Simpson (Mary Ann) of Mississippi; and many friends and extended family.
