Betty Lou Erwin Lamb

Betty Lou Erwin Lamb of North Little Rock, our beautiful and precious mother, passed on to her heavenly home Wednesday, June 21, 2023 in Sherwood. Betty Lou was the 5th child of Ovid Hazen Erwin and Annie Laura (Wood) Erwin, born 1928 in Cabot.

She was a starting guard for the Midway High School Yellow Jackets in the late 1940s. She also played independent League basketball for the Harville-Byrd Electric Company. She liked sports and working on her fitness, plus being a keen motivator for her two sons in their North Little Rock sports endeavors growing up. She also enjoyed water skiing on beautiful Lake Ouachita in Hot Springs, as well as being a most exceptional dancer.

Betty Lou worked a full career at Westinghouse Electric Company, and then finished her work life with the North Little Rock School District. She was the world’s best Mom and always kept a good attitude through the last two years with a disability. She attended Levy Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her sisters, Billie Harris and Marie Brown; brothers, J.R., Lloyd and Jim Erwin, all from the Midway Community; her loving husband, Joe E. Lamb; and Darlene Hastings and JoAnn Story. Survivors are two sons, Garry (Becky) Lamb of Cabot, and Ovid Joe (Brenda) Lamb of Brinkley; daughter, Carolyn McCrary of Lonoke; grandchildren, Doug, David and Denise Hastings, Charlotte and Caroline McCrary, Mason and Rachel Lamb, Dawn Gunter and Stephanie Haynes; nephews, Doug Erwin of Cabot, Jackie Jones and Joe Brown of California; and nieces, Linda (Bill) Anderson of Cabot, Darlene (Craig) Taylor of Chatworth, Calif., and Linda Gail Erwin.

Graveside services were Saturday, June 24 at Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Cabot. The family expressed special thanks to the Sherwood Nursing and Rehab staff.
