Javante’ Devon Nevels August 30, 1992 - January 1, 2020

Javante’ Nevels, of Searcy, formerly of Augusta, died in Newport, at the age of 27. Javante’ was born in Newport to Stephanie Nevels and John Brown. He was raised in Augusta around his family and attended the Augusta School System, where he played and enjoyed baseball. He was a 2010 graduate of Augusta High School. He had recently been attending Pulaski Tech College in Little Rock.

Javante was an employee of XPOLogistics Corporation in Searcy in the Maintenance Department for almost 8 years before his passing.

His maternal great grandparents: Archie and Dorothy Nevels; his maternal grandmother Deborah Nevels and his paternal grandparents: Calvin Brown Sr. and Dora Brown all preceded Javante in death. Survivors are his parents: Stephanie Nevels-Ferrarini, of Searcy; John Brown, of Newport; three brothers: Kelsey Brown Jr., of Cabot; Tyreese Knowlton and Antonio Ferrarini, both of Searcy; his sister Heaven Brown, of Arlington, TX; his maternal grandfather Johnny B. Rowe, of Newport; three uncles: Maurice Nevels, of Little Rock; Kevin Brown, of Searcy; and Jerry Brown, of Augusta; six aunts: Lisa Nevels and Darlene Brown, both of Searcy; Carolyn Rowe, of St. Louis, MO; Tawanna (Kendrick) Smith and Sherry Robinson, both of Augusta; and Dorothy Brown, of Little Rock; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, January 11 at Holy Ghost Academy Church of God in Christ in Augusta, with Reverend Robert Cummings officiating. Interment took place at Buckeye Cemetery in Gregory by Branscumb Johnson & Gilchrest Funeral Home of Brinkley. Pallbearers were: Kelsey Brown Jr., Antonio Ferrarini, Elijah Nevels, Henry Pondexter Jr., Kwame’ Wyrick and Rodney Smith.
