James Author "Jimmy" Settle March 3, 1952 - January 9, 2020

Jimmy Settle, of Brinkley, passed away at his home, at the age of 67. He was born to the family of Raymond and Dorothy Settle. He was the sixth of seven children and grew up in the small farming community of Moro. Jimmy received early education in Moro and the nearby town of Brinkley, before transferring to Wheatley, where he graduated with the class of 1971.

Straight out of high school, Jimmy was drafted due to the Vietnam War and chose instead to enter the United States Air Force. Before completing boot camp, he sustained injuries leaving him unable to serve and was discharged. He continued his patriotic support through the Brinkley American Legion Post 68.
For many years Jimmy worked for local farmers and driving trucks. He also worked at Hardwick Well Supply as a Welder, until he secured a position with Wayne Rodiger as a truck driver hauling fish. In 2006, Jimmy retired from public work.

He was of the Baptist faith and active with the Brinkley Masonic Lodge #295, and served as a Scottish Rite 32nd Degree Mason, of the Albert Pike Temple in Little Rock. In addition, he was a member of the Sahara Shrine of Pine Bluff.

Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents, Albert Raymond and Dorothy (Wheeler) Settle; brothers, Bobby Glenn, Terry Wayne and Allen Settle; sisters, Dean Bradbury and Wanda Jean Mireles. He is survived by; daughter, Terri Settle and granddaughter, Emma Rose Eary, both of Brinkley; sister, Lucille Kaufman of Phoenix, Arizona; and Richie Settle (who was like a son to Jimmy) and Donna, of Brinkley; and mother of his children, Rita Williams of Brinkley.

Services were on January 16 at Bob Neal & sons funeral Home Chapel in Brinkley.
