Murlean McGhee August 28, 1923 - January 15, 2020

Murlean McGhee, of Cotton Plant, went to be with the Lord at the Evergreen Living Center, in Bryant, at the age of 97. Murlean was born to Matthew and Lucy Moore Swinton in Blackwell. She married Frank McGhee and lived in Cotton Plant most of her life.

She confessed Christ at an early age and was a faithful member of Taylor Chapel United Methodist Church. She was known for her skill in making beautiful quilts.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank McGhee; son, Willie J. Thurman; her siblings: Effie Mae Hill, Rena Williams, Wesley Swinton, Aslie Swinton, L. V. Erby, Cordelia Cunningham and Catherine Faggett. She leaves to cherish her memories grandchildren: Gregory Thurman (Deborah), Vivian Thurman, Anthony Thurman (Trina), Robert D. Thurman (Lisa) and Latrisha Toogood; special relatives and caregivers: Gregory and Deborah Thurman, Anthony and Shirley Hill, Rose and Andrew Rogers, Barbara Dixon and Donna Murphy.

Public viewing will be held on Saturday morning, January 25, 2020 at 10 AM at Taylor Chapel United Methodist Church, 308 East Main Street, Cotton Plant. Funeral Services will follow the public viewing at 11 AM at the church, Rev. William Thompson, officiating. Burial will follow at Morning Star Cemetery, Cotton Plant. McNeal Coleman Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
