Kathryn Anthony, of Augusta, formerly of Newport, died at Unity Health White County Medical Center in Searcy, at the age of 55. She was born in Newport to Wilmer Slaughters Sr. and Martha Peel-Slaughter. “Kat”, as Kathryn was affectionately known, was raised in Newport and attended the Newport schools. She was a 1982 graduate of Newport High School. While growing, Kathryn attended of Morning Star Baptist Church along with her family.

Kathryn was a former employee of the Dollar General Store in Augusta for a few years, before her health failed. Before moving to Augusta in 1998, she had been employed as a clerk at a local convenience store in Newport.

Her parents, a brother, Earnest Slaughter; two sisters: Loreatha Slaughter and Coreatha Lockart; and a niece, Catrice Peel, all preceded Kathryn in death.

Survivors are: her husband of twenty-one years, Carl Anthony, of Augusta; six daughters: Cadilius (Tedarryle) Slaughter and Alisha Slaughter, both of Searcy; Latisha Slaughter and Patricia Anthony, both of Augusta; Danielle (Matthew) Cole, of Marion; and Ann (George) Salazar, of Camarillo, CA; three sons: Rodney Smith, of Augusta; Carl Anthony Jr., of San Antonio, TX; and Anthony Switzer, of Jonesboro; fifteen grandchildren, four great grandchildren, two brothers: Lynell Slaughter of Newport; and Wilmer Slaughter Jr., of Tulsa, OK; four sisters: Linda Walls and Patricia (Chris) Ollison and Margaret Dinwiddie, all of Newport; and Losie Calamese, of Jonesboro: and a host of nephews, nieces, extended family and friends.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, January 25 at Holy Ghost Academy Church of God in Christ in Augusta, with Elder Willie Clark officiating. Interment was at new Quiet Cemetery-North in Augusta, by Branscumb Johnson & Gilchrest Funeral Home of Brinkley.
