Dorothy Cade October 15, 1940 - February 8, 2020

Dorothy Cade, of Brinkley, died at Cla-Cliff Nursing and Rehab Center in Brinkley, at the age of 79.

Dorothy was born in Brinkley to Nathan Knewsom and Deborah Cade. “Tuta Baby,” “Mama Dorothy” or “Maw-Maw” as Dorothy was affectionately known, was raised in Brinkley and attended the Brinkley Public School system. In 2002, she officially received her high school diploma after completing GED courses.

Dorothy was a lifelong member of Mount of Olive Ministries (formerly Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church) in Brinkley. Over the years she served as a member of the church choir. She also was a former treasurer of the choir.

Dorothy worked as a housekeeper for the John Thomas Sr. family, of Brinkley, for several years. She also worked as a child care provided for many local families throughout the community for many years. She helped to raise many children in Brinkley and surrounding areas.

Her parents, her daughter Felicia Shelton; three brothers: Leroy Coppage, Phillip Jones and Norman Cade Knewsome; and her sister Carletha Shelton all preceded Dorothy in death.

Survivors are four sons: Edward Randle, Sandy Shelton and Dwight (Patricia) Shelton, all of Brinkley and Brad Cade, of Scott; her daughter Angela Randle, of Orlando, FL; fifteen grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren, a great-great-grandchild, a sister Annie D. Halliburton, of Brinkley; extended family members: Carlis Fletcher and Maureen Paleafi, both of Brinkley; and Chandra Mills, of Stone Mountain, GA; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, February 15 at Mount of Olive Ministries in Brinkley, with Evangelist Gloria Conyears officiating. Interment took place at Haven of Rest Cemetery by Branscumb Johnson & Gilchrest Funeral Home of Brinkley.
