Verlene Larry September 9, 1944 - February 8, 2020

Verlene Larry, of Brinkley, died at her daughter’s home in North Little Rock, at the age of 75. She was born in Moro to Sim Jackson, Sr. and Rosie Jackson. Verlene received her early education from the Moro/Garrett Grove Public School. She also attended Carver High School in Moro. She was a member of St. Paul Full Gospel Church in Brinkley for several years. While living in the Moro community, she was formerly a longtime member of New Hope Missionary Baptist Church before she moved her residency to Brinkley.
Verlene was a former employee of Van Heusen Shirt Factory in Brinkley for more than 15 years, where she worked as a seamstress before retiring. She was also a former employee of D&L Automotive Parts in Marianna for more than 10 years.
Her parents, her husband, J.L. Larry, Sr.; a son, Tracy Larry, and a brother, Isaiah Jackson, all preceded Verlene in death. Survivors are: two sons: J.L. (Lynn) Larry, Jr., of Rogers; Barry (Sandra) Larry, Sr., of Brinkley; five daughters: Carolyn (Eddie) Hicks, of Little Rock: Diane (Ronald) Goodrich, of St. Louis, MO; Sheila Ann Glass, of West Helena; Rosie (Timothy) Palmer, of Brinkley; and Crystal Larry, of North Little Rock; forty-six grandchildren, seventy-five great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren; three brothers: Sim (Covellar) Jackson, Jr., of Brinkley; Nathaniel Jackson, of Chicago, Ill; and Leo (Andrea) Jackson, of Atlanta, GA; eight sisters: Georgia Townes and Rowena Jackson, both of Chicago, Ill; Louise Young, Gardenia Jackson and Carolyn Ashe, all of Hot Springs; Victoria (Benjamin) Echols, of Tampa, FL; Letha Jackson (Jeraldine) Henley, of Phoenix, AZ; and Annie Mae Flanagan, of Guthrie, OK; a sister in law Selena Jackson, of Brinkley; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
Funeral services were held on February 22, at St. Paul Full Gospel Church in Brinkley, with Reverend William Lee Word officiating. Interment took place at Pilgrim Rest Cemetery in Wheatley by Branscumb Johnson & Gilchrest Funeral Home of Brinkley.
