Charles Gene Harrison August 5, 1948 - February 27, 2020

Gene Harrison, of Hunter, passed away Thursday, in his home surrounded by his family, at the age of 71. He was born in Newport to the late Charles Magness and Virgie Bell Harrison.
In January 1971, Gene met the love of his life, Eula Faye Hand, at the First Assembly of God Church in Hunter, and they were married on January 29, 1972. During their 48 years of marriage, they raised 3 beautiful children.
Gene was a proud veteran of the United States Army, serving from May 1968 until April 1974. He was a lifetime farmer and loved doing projects around his home. He was always tinkering or making something. He enjoyed woodwork, painting, hunting, and fishing and spending time with his family.
Gene always had a story to tell; if you had heard it once, you heard it a thousand times. As tough as he may have seemed, he loved and adored his family, cherishing every minute he spent with his grandkids and great-grandkids.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Virgie Harrison; siblings Sue Cox, Jessie Harrison, Fran Scudder, Joyce Nicholson, Dale Harrison, and Ronnie Harrison. He is survived by his loving wife, Faye Harrison, of Hunter; sons, Gary and Christi Harrison and Charlie and Charity Harrison, all of McCrory; daughter, Donna and James Whatley, of Hunter; 14 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; siblings, Edward Harrison and Tommy Harrison, of Albany, Georgia and Carma Lou Poskey, of Cord.
Funeral services were held March 5 at the Brinkley First Assembly of God Church, with Bro. Eric Harrell and Mr. Willie Oxner officiating. Interment, with military honors, followed in the Hunter Cemetery. Arrangements were entrusted to Powell Funeral Home of Woodruff County.
