Charles “Chuck” David Davenport July 25, 1957 - February 27, 2020

Charles “Chuck” Davenport, passed away Saturday, at his home in Brinkley, at the age of 62. He was the first son born to the family of the late Charles Henry and Winfred Holcombe Davenport. Born in South Bend, Indiana, his family home was located in the nearby community of Goshen, where he received early education at Goshen public schools. The family moved to Brinkley where Chuck attended Brinkley High School and graduated in May of 1976.

Proud to do his part in service to his country, on July 8, 1976, Chuck enlisted with United States Armed Forces, in Seattle Washington. He spent 7 weeks in basic training learning Water Systems Repair. Chuck was then stationed at Fort Lewis, Washington, serving as a Repair Specialist for the Water Purification Systems. During active duty, he received the Marksman Qualification Badge (M-16) and the Good Conduct Medal, before receiving his honorable discharge in 1980. In his last few months, he transferred to St. Louis Missouri, as part of the United States Army Reserve Reinforcements.
In times of worship, Chuck attended the Brinkley First Baptist Church and was last employed in the area as a truck driver for Tri-County and Helena Chemical. For a time, Chuck drove a truck delivering mobile homes all over the United States. After being diagnosed with health problems, he stepped back from the working world to enjoy time with family and friends. Chuck enjoyed square dancing and participated all over Indiana. He also attended dances with the Brinkley Squares. He was given a great blessing in life to become the father of one son, Charles Austin Allen Davenport. They shared only a short time together before his passing at the age of two. Chuck was also preceded in death by his parents; Charles and Winfred Davenport and two brothers, Allen Davenport and Gregory Davenport.

He is survived by one brother, Jeff Davenport and wife Lana of Brinkley; nephews and nieces, Aaron Potter, of Brasfield, Justin and Dana Austen, of Benton, and Jana Davenport, Anna Davenport, of Brasfield, and great nephews, Andrew Davenport, of Brasfield, and Ryder Austen of Benton; great nieces, Emma and Lacee Potter of Conway, McKenna Austen, of Benton, and Braeyln Potter of Brasfield; and a host of extended family and friends. Chuck will be remembered by many as a loving son, brother, uncle and friend to many.

Arrangements were made by Bob Neal & Sons Funeral Home of Brinkley. In a private ceremony, Chuck will be laid to rest in the Veterans Cemetery located in Little Rock.
