Wilson Matthew Campbell April 19, 1929 - March 3, 2020

Wilson Campbell, of Brinkley, died at Woodruff County Health Care Center in McCrory, at the age of 90.

Wilson was born in McCrory to Floyd Campbell, Sr. and Maggie M. Ball-Campbell. He was the eldest of six children born to this union.

Wilson was raised in the McCrory community and attended the McCrory Public School District.

For the past few years, Wilson had been a faithful member of the First Assembly of God Church in Brinkley.

Having been drafted into the United States Army in the early 1950’s, Wilson was given the opportunity to serve his nation during the Korean War and was honorably discharged in 1956.

“Big Em” or “Pap Paw”, as Wilson was affectionately known, was the former owner and proprietor of the A.C. Small Engine Repair Shop in Brinkley, where he worked as a small engine mechanic for more than 15 years before he retired in 2006 due to failing health.

His parents and a granddaughter, Kelly Turner, preceded Wilson in death. Survivors are his wife of 65 years, Audrey Martin-Campbell, of Brinkley; one son, Mickey Campbell, of Brinkley; two daughters: Patsy Arnett, of Brinkley, and Paula (Tim) McGinty, of Montgomery, TX; four grandchildren: Jessie (Emily) Arnett Jr., of Benton, Amanda Arnett and Walker Campbell both of Brinkley, and Brodie (Natalie) Faughn of Marianna; eight great grandchildren: Nash and Jase Arnett, both of Brinkley, Addison and Audrey Arnett both of Benton, Kadence and Hoyt Faughn, both of Marianna, Layton and Lynnen Campbell, both of McCrory; three brothers: Larry (Donna) Campbell of Pine Bluff, Floyd (Kathy) Campbell and Jimmy Campbell, both of McCrory; two sisters: Thelma Hankins of McCrory, and Shirley Lane of Cabot; two dear special friends: Jasmine Roddy and Claudette Eason; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.

Funeral services were held on March 6 at the First Assembly of God Church in Brinkley, with Bro. Eric Harrell officiating. Interment was private. Pallbearers were: Jessie Arnett, Jr., Brodie Faughn, Tim McGinty, Jessie Arnett, Sr., Everett Mixon and Lonnie Medford.
