David Lee Yancy
February 28, 1949 - October 6, 2019
David Yancey, of Chicago, Illinois, formerly of Biscoe, died Sunday at West Suburban Medical Center in Oak Park, Illinois, at the age of 70. Born in Biscoe to Georgia Lee Palton and Melvin Newsom, David spent his early years in Biscoe with his grandparents, George and Estella Palton and later moved to Chicago with his mother and step-father Rayburn Yancy. David attended the city of Chicago Public Schools.
In early years, David was employed with Michelin Tires of Chicago. He later went to work for Comcast Cable Company also in Chicago, where he worked for several years. He also worked as a skilled mechanic for several years.
His wife, his parents, his maternal grandparents: George and Estella Palton; paternal grandparents: Ferdinand and Caroline Newsom; two brothers: Melvin Houston and Keith Houston all preceded David in death. Survivors are his daughter Yolanda (Gregory) Tillage-Hall of Murfreesboro, TN; five sons: Tyrone Kyles, Wayne Kyles and Melvin (Brandy) Kyles all of Chicago, Ill; and Leton (Keisha) Daniels of Murfreesboro, TN; Ike Brown of Springfield, MO; six great grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren, six great great grandchildren; his brother Gary (Maria) Houston of St. Louis, MO; eight sisters: Mattie Dorsey, Donna (Larnell) Abby, Melva (Herman) Jackson, Debra Houston, Sharette (William) Thomas and Audrey Jones all of St. Louis, MO; Sheila (Fred) Goldstein of Detroit, MI and Lillie Williams of Little Rock; three uncles Nathaniel “Jam-Up” Palton and Robert Lee “Bob” (Julia) Palton both of Biscoe; and Ulessly “Less Bae” (Martha) Palton of Kansas City, MO; four aunts: Lottie B. “Sista” Palton-McCullough and Maxine Palton-Jones both of Biscoe; Dorothy Newsom-Edwards and Irma Dean Smith both of St. Louis, MO; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
Funeral services were held Saturday, October 19 at St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church in Biscoe, with Reverend Jerry Saxton officiating. Internment took place at Harrison Cemetery in Biscoe by Branscumb Funeral Home of Brinkley. Pallbearers were: Manuel Wright, Tyrece McCullough, Tyrone Palton, Terran Palton, Thomas Lee Jones and Randy Jackson.
