Mattie Deal August 14, 1920 - February 29, 2020

Mattie Deal, formerly of Clarendon and Brinkley, passed away at her residence in Naperville IL, at the age of 99. Mattie was born in Clarendon and was the eldest of five children. Mattie completed eighth grade. She moved to Chicago and worked as the Kitchen Supervisor at Geno East in downtown Chicago. Mattie waitressed at B&G Restaurant and was a member of New Morning Baptist Church.

Mattie moved to Brinkley in the 70s and became a member of St John Missionary Baptist Church, where she served faithfully. Mattie found joy in helping others as well as her family. Mattie truly loved her sisters, and her sisters truly loved her.

Her mother, Mary Hollis, her sisters May, Bessie Ann, and Essie preceded her at death. She is survived by her sister, Cleaster Mitchell; nephew, Ulysses Mitchell (Frankfort); great-nephew, Raymond Anthony (Alabama); great-nieces Marrietta Anthony (Naperville), Amelia Clark (Chicago); great nephew, Derrick D. Davis (Brinkley) and as well as a host of family, and friends.

Funeral services were held at St John Missionary Baptist Church in Brinkley on March 14. Interment followed at St. John Cemetery, also in Brinkley. McNeal Coleman Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
