Presley Wiley Meacham September 13, 1931 - March 17, 2020

Wiley Meacham passed away at his home in Brinkley, at the age of 88. Wiley was born in his family’s home on their farm in Monroe to parents P.W. and Virginia Meacham. Wiley attended the Monroe School for 6 years, finishing his high school education in Clarendon.
In 1953, Wiley traveled to Stayton, OR to propose to a beautiful young lady, Joyce Grimes, whom he had met when she was visiting family in Arkansas. They were married on August 19, 1953, and then returned home together to the family farm in Monroe where they raised their 3 sons, Mike, Steve and Matthew until moving to Brinkley in 1975. Joyce and Wiley were married for 50 years, until Joyce’s death in 2004.
Wiley carried on his family’s occupation, farming in Monroe County until his retirement. Active in both the Clarendon and Brinkley communities, he served on the Clarendon School District Board as member and President, was a member and past president of the Brinkley Rotary Club, a member of the Brinkley Country Club where he enjoyed golfing, on the board of several agricultural agencies, and was a member of the Brinkley First Baptist Church.
It was well known that Wiley’s great passion was duck hunting. He began hunting on his family’s farm at age 12 and continued every duck season until failing health forced him to stop in 2016. He was the founder of Piney Creek Duck Club, which continues today through his son Steve, and business partner Don Thompson. We are sure he is now enjoying the hunting in a heavenly ‘Wiley’s Hole”!
In addition to Joyce, his wife, Wiley was preceded in death by his parents, P.W. and Virginia Meacham, brothers Matthew, Kirby, and Cowan Meacham, sister Louise Meacham Melton, son Michael Wiley Meacham, and grandson Kyle Douglas Meacham. He is survived by his sons Steve (Mary K.) Meacham of Monroe, Matthew (Laura) Meacham of Brinkley, and daughter-in-law Karen Meacham of Canberra, Australia. He is also survived by grandsons Grant Meacham of San Diego, CA, Aaron (Eileen) Meacham of Canberra, Australia, and Dean (Megan) Meacham of Tasmania, Australia as well as granddaughter, Kathaleene (Michael) Meacham Curbo of Austin. Wiley also leaves behind his sister, Barbara Meacham Jarvis, of Little Rock, and great-granddaughter, Lydia Meacham, daughter of Aaron and Eileen.
There will be a graveside service in honor of Wiley’s life at a future date. Details will be available at bobnealandsons.com when complete.
