Maurice Lyndon Dotson January 7, 1969 – April 17, 2020

Maurice Dotson, of Austin, Texas, formerly of Clarendon, died at the age of 51, at Saint David’s – South Austin Medical Center in Austin. Maurice was born in Little Rock, to Florence Dodson and Clyde Tyler Sr. While being raised in Clarendon, he was a member of St. Paul Church of God in Christ in Clarendon, and attended the Clarendon Public School System. After moving to Texas in 1986 he attended the Denton Public School System. Later, he went on to obtain his GED and CAN (Certified Nurse Assistant).
Maurice was employed as a CNA at West Oaks Nursing and Rehab Center in Austin, Texas for more than 25 years. He had been employed doing CNA work since the age of 17 years old. He possessed a fondness and talent for taking care of others.
His father; two brothers, Domingo Tyler and Clyde Tyler Jr.; his paternal grandfather, Willie Gray Sr.; and his paternal grandmother, Bernice Pennelton, all preceded him in death. Survivors are: his mother, Florence Dodson of Clarendon; his maternal grandmother, Leola (Sonny) Johnson, of Clarendon; five sisters, Felicia Dotson, of Jacksonville, Rebecca (Jimmy) Brown, of Clarendon, Camille (Larry) Clanton, of Forrest City, Charlene Tyler, of Chicago, Ill, and Temica (Ralph) Roby, of Cordova, TN; three brothers, Claude (Melissa) Tyler Jr. and Emmanuel Tyler, both of Detroit, MI, and Demetric Tyler, of Memphis, TN; three nephews, Kendall Dodson, J’Darrius Smith and Tyrus Thomas, all of Clarendon; his niece, J’Tyia Thomas, of Clarendon; a special friend, Richard Conn, of Austin, TX; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Graveside services were Saturday, April 25 at Liberty Cemetery in Casscoe with Minister David Lee officiating. Arrangements were by Branscumb Johnson & Gilchrest Funeral Home of Brinkley.
