Mary Jean Dyer February 20, 1935 - May 11, 2020

Mary Dyer passed away in Stuttgart at the age of 85. A daughter of George and Lola Dyer, she was born in Clarendon, and shared childhood years with seven siblings. She received a GED from the Sweetwater Union High School near Hollywood, California.
Mary Jean and Sanford Dyer were married July 23, 1951 and remained together for nearly 52 years until his death on June 29, 2002. They were blessed with four children and due to his Navy service, lived for a time in California. They returned to Clarendon and remained a vital part of the community. Outside the home, she worked as a coordinator and van driver for the Mid-Delta Senior Citizens Center.
She was a dedicated member of the First Baptist Church and loved the fellowship with the church family. Through the years, she served as the Gladdie Burke Sunday School teacher and secretary and greatly enjoyed singing with others in the choir. She fulfilled her roles in life with complete commitment, deeply loved her family, and often went out of her way to help others and encouraged many with a gentle smile and words of wisdom.
Those preceding in death were her were parents; husband; seven siblings, Melvin Dean, Frank Dean, Edgar Dean, Wheat Dean, Grace Wright, Georgia Hoover, and Mildred Ashmore; and one great-grandson, Kyler Dulaney. Immediate survivors include four children and their spouses, Bobby and Ruthie Dyer, Everett and Mary Beth Dyer, all of Clarendon, Sandra and Greg Addison, of Hazen, and Georgia and Danny Ramsey, of Stuttgart; eleven grandchildren; and nineteen great-grandchildren.
Graveside services were May 14 at Shady Grove Cemetery by Bob Neal & Sons Funeral Home , both in Clarendon.
