Othella Darnell Jordan June 24, 1946 – June 15, 2020

Othella Darnell Jordan of Little Rock, formerly of Brinkley, passed away at his home at the age of 73. Othella was born in Wheatley to Odie P. Jordan and Charlie Mae Evans-Jordan. As an infant, Othella and his family relocated to Brinkley, where he was raised and attended school. He attended the Brinkley Public School System, and also attended Booker T. Washington High School in Tulsa, Oklahoma for a year (1962-1963) before returning to Brinkley. He was a 1966 graduate of Marian Anderson High School in Brinkley.
After graduating high school, Othella moved to Flint, Michigan to find work. He started working for AC Delphi Spark Plugs (General Motors Corporation) as a fork lift operator in November 1968 and worked until he retired in July 1998. He was a member of UAW Local 651 for many years. He was also employed with the United Way organization in Flint for more than 10 years.
Othella was a member of Led by the Spirit of God Church in Little Rock for more than 8 years since returning to Arkansas in the late 1990’s. He served as a member of the church’s Usher Board. “Duck” as Othella was lovingly known, was a licensed disc jockey with the stage name of “The Baby Disco Duck” and was well known throughout the city of Flint.
His parents; two brothers, Curley Spencer and Herman Spencer; a sister, Shirley Briscoe; a nephew, Gary Swanigan; his father-in-law, Roosevelt Sims; all preceded him in death. Survivors are his wife of 20 years, Yolanda Sims-Jordan, of Little Rock; one brother, Odie Lee (Lynn) Jordan, Jr., of St. Louis, MO; a sister, Wisa Lee McChester, of Flint, MI; his mother-in-law, Earnestine Sims, of Flint, MI; a nephew, Derrick Swanigan, of Little Rock; two nieces, Natasha Swanigan, of St. Paul, MN, and Deanna Briscoe, of Little Rock; a sister-in-law, Gwendolyn Faye (Donald Slaughter) Sims, of Flint, MI; a brother-in-law, Deon Sims, of Flint, MI; extended family and friends, Clifford and Margaret Martin, of Flint, MI, Robert Hines, of Flint, MI, Harlene Hines, of Livingston, AL, Wallace Miller, of Flint, MI, Paul (Jackie) Calip, of Lyndell, TX, Frank Adell, and Leonard Gregory, both of Brinkley, Corey Meredith, Donna Adams, Donnie Ray, Reggie Adell, Joe Allen and Mr. CJ al, of North Little Rock, and Jimmy Matthews, of Jackson, MS; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held June 27 at Branscumb Funeral Home Chapel in Brinkley with Reverend Oscar M. Conyears officiating. Internment took place at Pilgrim Rest Cemetery in Wheatley by Branscumb Johnson & Gilchrest Funeral Home of Brinkley.
