Ella Mae Blackmon -Floyd October 15, 1934 – July 6, 2020

Ella Mae Blackmon-Floyd of Cotton Plant passed away at her home at the age of 85. She was born in Bull Town, Ark. (Becton) to Leroy Blackmon and Mary Picken-Blackmon. She was the widow of Willie Lee “Joker” Floyd.
Ella Mae was a member of Shady Grove Baptist Church in Cotton Plant for more than 24 years (since 1996), and remained a faithful and dedicated member until her passing. She was a member of the church’s Mother Board, a member of the Missionary Society, and a former president of the church choir. She was a former member of New Mount Zion Baptist Church, also in Cotton Plant, where she was a member of the Usher Board, former president of the Pastor’s Aide Club, and a member of the Missionary Society.
She received her formal education from the local school located in the Bull Town Community and worked as a seamstress at Farris Fashions in Brinkley for several years before retiring. She was also a dedicated and faithful homemaker for her husband and children.
Her parents; her husband; three sons, Lonzo Floyd, Oscar Floyd, and Kevin Floyd; a daughter, Betty Floyd; two brothers, Roosevelt Blackmon and Maine Blackmon; two sisters, Queen Ester Wright and Naomi Blackmon; four sisters-in-law, Addie Floyd-Bunch, Dollie Dempie Floyd-Hardy, Elatrice Floyd- Harlston and Beatrice Floyd-Lawson; and a brother-in-law, David Louis Floyd, all preceded her in death. Survivors are: nine sons, Robert Floyd, Bruce (April) Floyd, Ervin Floyd, Edward (Lofa) Floyd, all of Cotton Plant, Willie (Doris) Floyd, of Cleveland, OH, Vernon (Linda) Floyd, of Elyria, OH, Phillip Floyd, of Diaz, and Larry (Tina) Floyd and Leroy Floyd, both of Little Rock; eight daughters, Elizabeth Floyd, of Searcy, Dorsey Sain, of Little Rock, Angela (Willard) Ryland, of Carlisle, and Sarah Floyd, Patricia Ann Floyd, Tabitha Floyd, Peggy Bailey, and Karyn Floyd, all of Cotton Plant; a host of grandchildren; great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Annie Lee Ivy, of Cotton Plant; brother-in-law, Jewel B. Bunch Sr., of Cotton Plant; a dear friend, Teretha Durham, of Brinkley; nephews; nieces; cousins; and friends.
Graveside services were held July 11 at Morning Star Cemetery in Cotton Plant with Reverend Christopher Floyd and Reverend Gerone Hobbs officiating. Arrangements were by Branscumb, Johnson & Gilchrest Funeral Home of Brinkley.
