Joseph Rice of Brinkley passed away at his home at the age of 82. He was born in Brinkley to Will Rice and Beola Lewis-Rice. Joseph was raised in Brinkley and attended the local Brinkley Public Schools. He and his family attended the First Missionary Baptist Church.

His parents; two brothers, Albert Brown and Moses Brown; and two sisters, Beola Walton and Clara Rice-O’Neal, all preceded him in death. Survivors are five brothers, Willkie Rice, Fred (Darlene) Rice, Lee Rice, and Ted (Clementine) Rice, all of St. Louis, MO, and Larry (Doris) Rice, of Pine Bluff; three sisters, Rosa Schmiegel, of Indianapolis, IN, Willie (Herman) House, of Denver, CO, and Thelma (Joe B.) Hardwick, of Los Angeles, CA; his caregivers and dear friends, John Nash and Dorothy Nash of Brinkley; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.

Funeral services were July 18 at Branscumb Funeral Home Chapel in Brinkley with Pastor Dennis Walton officiating. Interment took place at Haven of Rest Cemetery in Brinkley by Branscumb Funeral Home.
