Darlene Valentine - Adams March 12, 1961 – July 24, 2020

Darlene Valentine-Adams of Augusta passed away at her home at the age of 59. She was born in Gregory to Shawnee Valentine Sr. and Isdee Lockwood-Valentine. She was the widow of Billy Wayne Adams.

During her earlier years, Darlene received her education from the Augusta School District. She was a 1979 graduate of Augusta High School. In later years, she went on to further her education by attending and graduating from Newport Beauty School in Newport. She then acquired her credentials and became a licensed beautician. She was a lifelong member of Walnut Grove Baptist Church in Gregory. Over the years, she served as the church announcer and she was a member of the church choir.

Darlene was employed as a certified home health care aide for the White River Area Agency on Aging for more than 10 years before her health failed. She was a former aide for the Woodruff County Health Department in Augusta and Woodruff County Healthcare Center in McCrory for more than15 plus years.

Her parents; her husband; two brothers, Shawnee Valentine Jr. and Harzell Valentine; and two sisters, Paula Gean Armstrong and Earlene Valentine, all preceded her in death. Survivors are four daughters, Sade’ Adams and Damaria Adams, both of Augusta, Erica (Steven) Wright, of Jacksonville, FL, and Keisha Walters, of Rochester, NY; a son, Billy Terrell of Searcy; a granddaughter, Korea Barber, of Augusta; six brothers, Alvin Valentine, Calvin Valentine, Johnny (Freddie Ann) Valentine, Marion Valentine, Tulsa Valentine and Henry Valentine, all of Augusta; three sisters, Janie Johnson, Nellie Valentine and Lula Valentine, all of Augusta; a brother-in-law, Terry Adams, of Shelbyville, TN; six sisters-in-law, Dora Valentine, of Beecher, Ill, Barbara Davis, and Rose Ayer, of Pine Bluff, Joyce Adams and Diane Smothers, both of McCrory, and Pearlene Ward, of Chicago, Ill; two aunts, Josie Richardson, of Chicago, Ill, and Catherine Lockheart, of Fresno, CA; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Graveside services were August 2 at Buckeye Cemetery in Gregory with Elder Michael Johnson officiating. Arrangements were by Branscumb Johnson and Gilchrest Funeral Home of Brinkley.
