Ray Burton February 14, 1974 – July 14, 2020

Ray Burton of Jacksonville, formerly of Hazen, passed away at his home at the age of 46. He was born in Little Rock to Mary Ann Burton and Russell McClure. “Booby” “Big Man” or “Big Boy” as Ray was affectionately known, received his formal education from the Hazen and Marianna School Districts. He was a 1992 graduate of Lee Senior High School in Marianna. After high school, he went on to further his education by attending Oklahoma Jobs Corps Academy in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He received training and certification in welding/tacking.
Since moving to Jacksonville, several years earlier, Ray had attended Mount Olive Baptist Church in North Little Rock. He was formerly a member of Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church in DeValls Bluff. Ray was an employee of Democrat Printing and Lithographing Company in Little Rock for more than 7 years. He had previously worked as a welder in several local machine shops in Central Arkansas.
His brother, Anthony McDowell; maternal grandparents, Mary E. Burton and Sammy Burton; paternal grandparents, Shirley McClure and Napoleon McClure; paternal great-grandparents, Indiana and Joe Pitts, all preceded him in death. Survivors are three sons, Raydron Burton, Daniel Burton and Jayden Burton, all of Jacksonville; two daughters, Hannah Burton and Keirra Burton, both of Jacksonville; his companion, Shandrea Harris, of Jacksonville; his parents, Mary Ann Gregory, of Hazen, and Russell (Gardenia) McClure, of Chicago, Ill; his sister, Denise Hunt, of Little Rock; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Graveside services were August 1 at Oakland Cemetery in DeValls Bluff with Reverend Cliff Roland officiating. Arrangements were by Branscumb Johnson & Gilchrest Funeral Home of Brinkley.
