Pettie Joe Carley December 16, 1944 - August 9, 2020

Pettie Joe was born in Clarendon to parents LD “Pete” and Edith Carley. He and Delois were married for 55 years and celebrated just this past March. He was surrounded in love by his beautiful girls and was THE Best Paw to each of them. He was known as Daddy’s little man, and to others, a brother, caring uncle, a supportive and hard-working husband, a fun-loving and care-taking Daddy, the world’s biggest flirt and the most loveable person you’d ever run across. He told the best stories, reeled in the biggest fish, and loved his motorcycle. PJ could most certainly be a tough man, but he also had a huge heart for his dogs. He could be a grouch but LIVED for his family and life will not be the same without him. We have been blessed with so much from one man’s love. Until we are reunited again, ride wide open Pettie Joe!
He continues to watch over his pride and joy, the most beautiful woman in Monroe County, Delois “Dump” Carley, his first girls, Julie, his # 1 deckhand, and Sandy, the only one who could keep in line. His favorite daughter-in-law, Katie and his entrusted son-in-law, Les. His grand girls, Sara “Pokie,” Carley “Too Precious,” Riley, who ate all his pumpkin pie, Jordan “Hootie,” Avery, who he let drive his boat, Dylan, who gave the best goodnight hugs, Olivia, who he always aggravated, and Talasi, for whom he picked his green tomatoes. He also watches over his beloved animals, Bella, Boston, Minnie, Josie, and those rabbits; his sister; Patsy, nieces; Janet and Shannon, grandnieces; Madison, Annsley, Melissa, and Kathryn, the sassy stinkpot Channing; his best bud Ava; partner in crime, Lanette; his trusted caregiver, Shelly and many other countless lives he touched.
He is preceded in death by his sister Louise, nephews, Tommy and Jason, best friend, Bill and favorite companions, Savannah, Brady, Jenny and many more. Burial will be private. Cremation arrangements by Bob Neal and Sons Funeral Home in Clarendon.
