Albert Grizzle September 7, 1930 - September 19, 2020

Albert Dee Grizzle, age 90, passed away Saturday at his home in Brinkley. A son of Clarence and Edna (Berry) Grizzle, he was born in Wheatley and later became a 1948 graduate of Brinkley High School. He attended Arkansas State Teachers College in Conway on a football scholarship. However, due to contracting polio in his sophomore year, Albert left college and returned home. In 1955, he received 50 acres of farmland from his father and began a lifelong career in the field of agriculture. He joined his father in a Grizzle Farm partnership and later he and brother, Reid, formed Grizzle Brothers, Inc. The Grizzle farming family also includes a partnership with sisters, Victoria and Virginia and their children.
Albert never allowed his polio to keep him from working as hard as others in the business. He enjoyed the challenges and became very involved with financial services given to local farmers. He served as a board member or director with numerous associations including: Wheatley/Riceland Dryer, Monroe County Farm Bureau, Producers Credit Association, Cache River PCA, Farm Credit Services, Arkansas Farmers & Ranchers, Tri County Farmers Association (49 Years), Brinkley Airport Commission, Monroe County Quorum Court and in 2008 he was elected to the office of Monroe County Justice of the Peace.
Albert has been a member of the Christian community throughout life. He attended worship at the Old Philadelphia Church located on Hwy 302 before becoming a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Brinkley. He was very dedicated and faithful in attendance and greatly enjoyed the “Ironmen” fellowship meetings.
Albert was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Edna Grizzle; wives, Eunice Weatherly Grizzle and Patricia Flowers Grizzle; two siblings, Charles Grizzle, Jr. and Imogene Grizzle.
He is survived by one brother Reid Lynn Grizzle; sisters Victoria Ray and Virginia Hudspeth; step-children Paulette Thompson, Sue (Mike) Brunette, Jim Pat (Deana) Flowers, Mike (Sonia) Flowers; niece Sonja (Kevin) Campbell; nephews, Lynn (Carrie) Grizzle, Roy (Melissa) Ray Jr. and Charles Ray; great-nephews, Aiden Grizzle, Thornton Ray and Andrew Ray.
Funeral services were September 22 at the First Assembly of God Church in Brinkley with burial in Oaklawn Cemetery, by Bob Neal & Sons Funeral Home in Brinkley.
