Mable Jean Greene November 29, 1946 - September 13, 2020

Mable Greene, of Augusta, passed away on Sunday evening at CHI St. Vincent Infirmary Medical Center in Little Rock, at the age of 73. Mable was born in Augusta to Napoleon Emerson Sr. and Asadenie Rowe-Emerson. She was one of six children born to this union. She was a lifelong member of Ward Chapel Church and a 1964 graduate of Carver High School in Augusta. She also went on to continue her education by attending AM&N College in Pine Bluff (now UAPB) for three years.

“Mae”, or “Mae Mae”, as Mable was affectionately known, was a former employee of Wee Care Child Care Center in Augusta for 4 years. She was a long time Home Healthcare Aide with the Area Agency on Aging-Home Care in Augusta and surrounding communities. She was a very active, longtime member and secretary of the Augusta Club.

Her parents, and a son, Robert Emerson; five siblings: Ique Roberts, Eloise Spearman, Robert “Dusty” Lee, Napoleon “Pink” Emerson Jr. and Montene Lacy all preceded Mable in death. Survivors: her husband of 44 years Lonnie Greene of Augusta; two sons: Terrence (Sharon) Williams of Searcy; Tony (Nicole) Johnson of Audubon, IA; two daughters: Equet Williams of Augusta; and Jackie (Marcus) Greene-Shell of Conway; three grandchildren: Tony Johnson Jr. of Audubon, IA; Asia Shell of Conway; and Tavares Johnson of Baltimore, MD; her mother-in-law Minnie Mae Greene of Augusta; a sister in law Dorothy Emerson of Augusta; two longtime special companions: Esther Easter of Jacksonville; and Stephanie Rowe of Lonoke; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Graveside services will be held on Saturday, September 26 at 11 AM at New Quiet Cemetery, Highway 33 North in Augusta with Reverend Gary Browning officiating. Services provided by Branscumb Johnson & Gilchrest Funeral Home of Brinkley.
