Dorothy Williams September 17, 1927 – September 18, 2020

Dorothy Williams of Forrest City passed away at the West Memphis Medical Rehab Hospital at the age of 93. She was born in Beckspur to Ocie Roberts and Ocie Jackson. She married Homer Williams in 1949, and to this union a daughter, Janelle, was born.

Dorothy attended St. Luke C.M.E. Church until the age of 13, when she and her grandmother became members of Lane Chapel C.M.E. Church in Forrest City. She became the pillar of hard work and dedication for the community. She was a mother to many of her nieces and nephews, to her church members, and neighborhood children. She worked for General Industries (GI) until the plant closed, and then spent many years volunteering for the Forrest City Food Pantry.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Homer Williams; her father and mother; and a sister, Maxine Williams. Survivors are a daughter, Janelle Gardiner; a grandson, Chez Gardiner; a sister, Claudine Smith; a host of nieces and nephews; and many community friends.

There will be a public walk through viewing Friday, September 25 from 5-7 p.m. and Saturday, September 26 from 11 a.m.-12 p.m. at Lane Chapel CME Church. Funeral services are Saturday, September 25 at 1 p.m. at Lane Chapel Church for the family. Burial will be at the Casteel Cemetery in Forrest City. McNeal-Coleman Funeral Home Inc. of Brinkley has charge of arrangements.
