Shirley Davis Maxwell April 16, 1945 - November 13, 2019

Shirley Maxwell died at her home in West Helena, at the age of 74. She was born to Vernon and Odean (Baker) Davis and received formal education at Helena High School.

She married David Maxwell and remained a resident of Helena becoming parents to four boys and two girls. They were blessed to see them mature and begin families of their own. Shirley was married to David for 40 years before his death. In time, she found friendship and love with Clarence Henry, Jr. In her new life, she cherished the love and care gained from his family

Shirley spent her life as a homemaker, caring for her home and family. She enjoyed growing and working with various flowers, and most of all, spending time with her little canine companion, Gen-Gen. She was of the Baptist faith.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, David Maxwell; her companion Clarence Henry Jr.; two sons-in-law, Walter “Cooney” Brock and James Marlyn Sandifer, grandmother, Vester Crowder, three siblings, Kenneth Davis, Vernon “Fred” Davis, and Betty Clark, and the best in-laws a daughter could have, Jake and Reba Maxwell. She is survived by her children, David Maxwell, of England, Jerry Maxwell, of Wabash, Ronnie Maxwell (Brenda), of Oklahoma, Tony Maxwell (Crystal), of Jonesboro, Betty Graves (Kenny), of Lexa, and Stephanie Sandifer, of West Helena;

Clarence’s children: Steven Henry (Shawn), of Louisiana, Scott Henry (Shelia), of Mississippi, Susan Vessels Henry, of South Dakota; sisters Dorothy Martin, of West Helena and Helen Barnes (Dwight), of Conway; eight great-grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Graveside services were on November 16 at Cypert Cemetery. Arrangements were by Bob Neal & Sons Brickell Funeral Home in Marvell.
