James Elder Brimer of Olive Branch, MS passed away at his home at the age of 72. He was born in Clarendon to the late Judge W. and Mildred Maybell (Hyatt) Brimer, Sr. James was a loving dad and papa. He loved traveling and being with his family and friends. He loved watching old westerns, betting on horse racing and was always up for a good joke.

He served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Badkrevznach, Germany, and was married in Basel, Switzerland to Melinda. Their daughter, Stacey was born in Badkrevznach. They came back to the states and he attended UCA in Conway, where he earned his teaching degree. He began teaching and coaching in 1975 for the Brinkley School District. He retired from teaching in 1988 to pursue other endeavors. He will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him.

He is preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Judge Brimer, Jr., Joe Brimer and Alton Brimer. He is survived by his daughter, Stacey (Neal) McCarver; granddaughter, Sarah; and his brothers, R.V., Dean and Charles Brimer.

Funeral services were Thursday, October 1 at Powell Funeral Home Chapel in Bald Knob. Interment with military honors followed in the Shady Grove Cemetery. Arrangements were entrusted to Powell Funeral Home Bald Knob-Judsonia.
