Sandra Lynette (Fisher) Riner, 76, of Hot Springs Village (formerly of Little Rock) passed away at UAMS in Little Rock at the age of 76, after a short battle with leukemia. She was born to Denver and Marie (Schmid) Breeding in Clarendon, and graduated from Holly Grove High School in May 1962. She married Bobby Fisher later that year. They lived in Little Rock and raised their family there. After Bobby passed away in 2004, Sandra later reconnected with a high school friend from Holly Grove, Jim Riner. They married in 2011 and moved to Hot Springs Village.
Sandra worked as a buyer in the wholesale grocery business for 35 years and retired in 2009. When her kids were growing up, she was involved in their activities at school and church. She served many years as a counselor for the Girl’s Missionary Auxiliary at Temple Baptist Church. She had a beautiful alto voice and sang in choir from her school days until her last days. She most recently was active in the Balboa Baptist Church Choir, where she served as the chair of the music committee. When she moved to Hot Springs Village, she made new friends, who introduced her to Mahjong and Rummikub. She was an avid Razorback football and basketball fan. Sandra loved her grandchildren and was very proud of each of them.
Sandra was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband of 42 years, Bobby J. Fisher; and four brothers, James “Jim Boy” Breeding, Richard “Rabbit” Breeding, Lloyd Breeding, and Sam Breeding. She is survived by her husband, Jim Riner; a sister, Jenny Miller (Frank), of Holly Grove; a daughter, Donna Smiley (Henry), of Conway; a son, Joe Fisher (Amy), of Greenbrier; a bonus son, Bret Riner (Gemma), of Denver, CO; grandsons, Matthew Smiley, Cade Smiley, Colin Fisher, and Garrett Fisher; granddaughters, Nicole Riner and Taylor Riner; several sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her family, she leaves behind many friends from every stage of her life.
Graveside services were held October 3 at Pinecrest Cemetery in Alexander.
