Joan Carolyn Catlett January 10, 1940 – September 29, 2020

Joan Carolyn Catlett of Clarendon passed away after a courageous battle with Pancreatic Cancer at the age of 80. Joan, or JoAnn, as she was fondly called by many family and friends, was born in Clarendon to the late James Elmer "Toad" Norwood Sr. and Maude Corinne Hurst Norwood. She was the third of three children and the only girl born into the family.
She was a graduate of Clarendon High School and supported the Mighty Lions as a cheerleader in the mid-50's. When not in school, Joan was a familiar face at Bo & Jan's Cafe, where she worked filling many customer and food service duties. In August 1963, Joan married the late Donald Gene Catlett, also of Clarendon, and three children were born in the marriage of 37 years. Joan was a member of Clarendon Missionary Baptist Church. Her lifelong skill and passion was sewing and quilting for her family. In years past, attending Bluegrass music parks and making friends of like-kind, were her and Don's pastime of enjoyment getaways.
Survivors include two daughters, Donna Jo Aker, of Clarendon, and Deborah Jane "Dusty" Boschung and husband, Charles, of St. Mary's, Georgia; one son, David Jon Catlett, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; two brothers, James Elmer "Jim" Jr. and wife, Darlene, of Lancaster, California, and William Andrew "Bill" Norwood and wife, Margaret, of Zeeland, Michigan; six grandchildren, Meagan, Lauren, Jazmine, Drew, Morgan, Chelsea; seven great-grandchildren, Gabe, Levi, Zoey, Carson, Bentlee, Olivia, and Tony; along with other family and friends.
