Louis Polk Sr. of Brinkley passed away at Baptist Health Medical Center in Little Rock at the age of 71. He was born in Holly Grove to Garland Polk Sr. and Mattie Hymon-Polk. Louis received his formal education form the Holly Grove Public School System. He was a member of the Holly Grove Vocational High School Class of 1967, and was self-employed as a mechanic for many years.

His parents; and longtime companion, Mary Ann Tyson, all preceded him in death. Survivors are five sons, Robert Tyson, of Dallas, TX, Willie (Alicia) Shelton and Victor (Tamra) Polk, both of Little Rock, Louis Polk Jr., of Maumelle, and Calvin (Meredith) Polk, of Conway; two daughter, Linda (Tony) Williams. of Pine Bluff, and Lynn Shelton, of Jacksonville; sixteen grandchildren, four brothers, Senior Polk of Brinkley, Bobby (Patricia) Polk, of St. Louis, MO, Garland (June) Polk Jr., of Little Rock, and Curtis Polk, of Holly Grove; four sisters, Ann Watson and Jettie Polk, both of St. Louis, MO, Flora Polk, of Dallas, TX, and Bessie (Ronald) Henderson, of Little Rock; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Graveside services were October 4 at Haven of Rest Cemetery in Brinkley with Reverend Willie Shelton officiating. Arrangements were provided by Branscumb Johnson & Gilchrest Funeral Home of Brinkley.
