Carolyn Vent October 31, 1947 – October 16, 2020

Carolyn Sue Tipton Vent of Clarendon-Holly Grove passed away after a valiant fight with cancer at the age of 72. She was born in Almyra to Melvin and Louise Bronson Tipton.
Carolyn graduated from Humnoke High School and attended Arkansas State University, majoring in accounting and data processing. She was able to utilize those skills later as she played a major role in the business community of Clarendon for over 35 years as owner and operator of the Lions Den Drive-in, Greyhound Bus Services and J&M restaurant. If you lived in or around the Clarendon area in the 70's, 80's, 90's or early 2000's the Lions Den, along with her pleasant, welcoming charm, was likely an integral part of your life. Through the business, her kindness, acts of charity, and selflessness, she quietly and efficiently fed the multitudes and took care of those in need. She was also highly supportive of her husband's over half a century career in education. Carolyn was a very active member of the Clarendon First United Methodist Church and served in many leadership positions. She served as church treasurer for many years.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents; son, Timothy Lee Vent; brother, Don Tipton; nephew, Gene Tipton; and niece, Tiffany Williams O'Dell.
