Billy Scaife November 5, 1935 – November 6, 2020

Billy Scaife of Rio Hondo, TX passed away in Harlingen, TX at the age of 85. He was born in Bottleneck. He was a farmer and he also built cotton gins and taught people how to operate them. He managed several country clubs and a wholesale warehouse business. At age 60 he retired so he and his wife, Barbara could travel in their motor home across the continental United States.
Billy moved to Arroyo City, TX in 2002, where he became a volunteer fireman. He rebuilt The Church of Arroyo, where he was a faithful member, a choir director, song leader, played the guitar and volunteered building ramps for church members homes and any job that needed to be done. He loved to fish and was a great storyteller.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Gene Scaife and Mable (Henderson) Ritter; wife of 49 years, Barbara Scaife; sons, Willie Scaife, Jerry Scaife, and Ricky Scaife; brother, Marvin Scaife; grandson, Michael Kirkpatrick; and daughter-in-law, Debbie Scaife. Survivors are his wife of 18 years, Bobbie Scaife, of Arroyo City, TX; daughters, Barbie (Donald Ray) Washburn, of Marvell, Jennifer (Brian) Palmer, of Magnolia, Candy (Cary) Bourgeois, of Houston, TX, and Julie Archibald, of Houston, TX; son, Danny (Tammy) Archibald, of Southaven, MS; daughters-in-law, Jerry Jenks Scaife, of Branson, MO, and Darline Scaife, of Taylor; brothers, Rudy (Doris) Scaife, of California, Tom (Beverly) Scaife, of Houston, TX, and Marlon Burney; 14 grandchildren, Stacy, April, Shannon, Emily, David, Emily, Kortni, Mallory, Colton, Charlie, Samantha Phillip, Heather, and Amanda; 17 great-grandchildren, Jason, Summer, Katie, Emma, Rylee, Landon, Kacie, Kaleb, Payton, Taylor, Hannah, Riley, Paisli, Madison, Makenzie, Skyler, and Scarlett; great-great-grandchild, Colton and another on the way, Raine.
Graveside services will be held Saturday, November 14 at 10:00 a.m. at the Taylor Memorial Cemetery with Bro. Jerry Evans officiating under the direction of Lewis Funeral Home, Inc. in Magnolia. Visitation will be Friday, November 13 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Honorary pallbearers will be his grandsons and great grandsons.
